Rob Roy Volume 02 edition by Sir Walter Scott Literature Fiction eBooks
Mr. W. Scott ( "Sir" by english title-which I cannot use) is the father of the Modern Fiction story. This is a fine example of the art, which mostly transcends time, and writing formatts. An all around good read, with all the 'circa 2013' plot pieces in place. Volume 01(see other review) is another matter, but BOTH must be read to make sense of Vol.)2To understand the high point of English/Scots/American writing style, & the zenith of Scots nationalism, here is the one to read. Bear in mind Mr.Scotts Scotland is about as accurate as Karl Mays Wild West Stories, but that should not be a readers concern.

Rob Roy Volume 02 edition by Sir Walter Scott Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Sir Walter Scott is a difficult read. Now, I'm 75% through the book and Rob Roy's identity has just been revealed; so far, he is not a "main player" in the book. To me, the title should have been something like, "The Rise of Rob Roy MacGregor."
Do like old books, deciphering strange accents, and amusing adventure stories? Do men in kilts fascinate you? Are you romantic? Then you might enjoy this book.
Equally compelling is the complex character of Rob Roy and his place in the archetype of a masculine hero.
Really a wonderful novel.
Sir Walter is top shelf allus
The diaries of Frank Osbaldistone could have been a better title, or how to outdo your shrew of a wife, perhaps. Yet, even though Rob himself only appears on a few pages and is very thinly drawn, the rest of the story is a rollicking good read and has lots of other heroes capable of satisfying one's desire for comic book adventures.
Good book
Although the language can at first be difficult to plow through, it is well-worth doing so! This is a compelling adventure, full of humor and mysteries.
It may prove easier to get through it by accompanying the reader simultaneously with the librivox.org audible version. It helps to move much more quickly through the sometimes difficult Highland accents, and is easier to make sense of those just by sitting back and listening, then gathering the meaning by the context.
Any review of this 19th century classic is meaningless. History speaks for this book and history has spoken well of it. That being said, be advised that this is a 19th century work written in an 18th century language, including highland Scots in parts. Because of this, it is often not an easy read. However, it is a great story and a true insight into highland Scots history. It is a book written by a Scot for the Scots. If you want to understand why "Nae Union" still appears on bumper stickers and t-shirts around Scotland, start here.
